Bolivian President, Luis Arce, traveled to Mexico City to strengthen ties with Mexican President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who last Wednesday praised the economic model promoted by former President Evo Morales in Bolivia, since, he assured, he lifted millions of Bolivians out of poverty and redistributed wealth, preventing it from falling into foreign hands.

In the meeting held by both presidents at the National Palace, the Mexican president assured that Bolivia is an example of how to create wealth and also know how to distribute it, he mentioned that he considers this a very successful model and that he is sure it will continue to be so.

López Obrador expressed it is very satisfying for Mexico that Bolivia has recovered its democracy and especially that it has achieved it without violence, which he described as a feat of the Bolivian people. He emphasized both countries are brothers and that they have the same purposes of justice and freedom.

He also applauded the achievements made during the presidency of Evo Morales (2006-2019), as he considers that during this time an exemplary economic growth was achieved and they recovered their natural resources, which means welfare for the people, as they did not allow the participation of other companies and the Bolivian State managed the income and profits produced.

He highlighted that the government of Evo Morales distributed the wealth that previously remained in the hands of a minority or went abroad. In this way, he considers, he lifted millions of Bolivians out of poverty.

However, it should be noted that Andrés Manuel López Obrador has an open front with private energy companies, particularly with foreign ones.

Luis Arce arrived last Tuesday in Mexico City, where he visited for three days, during which he met with the Mexican president in public and private activities. On the same Tuesday, he was named Distinguished Guest of Mexico City by the head of government of the city, Claudia Sheinbaum. He also took part in a solemn session in the Senate.

On Thursday he accompanied the Mexican president on a visit to the state of Campeche to commemorate the indigenous victory of the battle of Chakán Putum.

The Bolivian president expressed that he is very happy to visit Mexico, this time no longer as a refugee due to the coup d'état perpetrated in Bolivia in 2019.
